US dominates the global shale gas market

TransWorldNews -- The shale gas industry has seen significant growth in the North American market changing the dynamics of natural gas trading in the region. The combination of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing to extract gas from low permeability rock sources has presented a major new energy source, which has significantly reduced the need for natural gas imports to the US. We know that a large percent of the shale gas deposits in North America can and will be extracted with current technology but the economics of extraction will determine if the current shale gas extraction methods will be applied in the rest of the worlds shale gas deposits.

Big Oil is excited about all the gas find, as they see all the dollars come in for exporting it around the world in the form of liquefied natural gas. One outfit in the Gulf region has obtained permits to export it from our government with others applying also. Will there be any left for the auto industry? There still in not much talk or interest in going that direction! I think it would have a direct affect on gasoline sold at over $3 a gallon and it might put an end to ethanol, unless the mandates keep that business going and it is all exported too. That would be a shame to hi-jack our food supply for fuel for the rest of the world.

And I understand methane production with natural gas is a problem. But we should also capture that and burn it too. They do in other countries. Yet where oil is produced like in North Dakota, they just burn the gas off, such a waste. We waste so many of our good resources.
