Gas prices are up 10% since July 1

The Associated Press -- For the first time since late April, the average price of gasoline is higher than it was a year ago.

Americans are paying an average of $3.66 per gallon, a penny more than on this day last year. The last time that happened was April 23, according to AAA. Gas is up 10 percent from July 1.

"The higher pump prices are due to rising global crude oil prices, much more expensive domestic ethanol as a result of the current Midwestern drought and an increase in demand due to the summer driving season," AAA said.

In Texas, the average is up 13 cents, to $3.49. Drivers in North Texas are paying the most in the state, $3.52, and motorists in El Paso are paying the least, $3.21.

"Right now Texans are paying about $49 to fill up a typical vehicle's 14-gallon tank," said AAA Texas/New Mexico....

Oil belongs at $100 according to OPEC. The crisis in Europe gave us a nice break this summer.

It was nice while it lasted but unless all of you wish bad luck to your country and other contries, $4 for a gallon of gas should be the norm come October.

I wish my area was only at 10%. Prices jumped from 3.33 to 3.79 last week which is more than 10%.
