Classic cars charm the guys

Houston Chronicle -- They come cruising through the drive-thru, engines revving, an elbow resting on the door, a wrist guiding the steering wheel.

They are in Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes and the occasional Ford Coupe. It's a procession as old as internal combustion engines. Boys and their toys out to impress each other and, if things break right, a girl or two.

For most of the guys who gather every Friday in the southwest corner of the Lowe's parking lot, and it is mostly guys, the weekly parade is part of the circle of life. They were into buying and fixing up cars when they were teenagers, and now, in retirement, or at least middle age, they are doing it again. The cars are the same, the price tags, however, have added a few zeros.

For the rare few that have classics that actually appreciate in value, they are a breed apart from most of us.

When they're out and about, they don't seem to have a third gear that gets them past 35 mph, thus clogging up winding two lane roads that sadly cannot be widened but are major arteries into several counties.

Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012

Meridian each weekend during the summer. People bring lawn chairs to sit and watch all the classic cars. It is great entertainment!
