U.S. National average levels off, falls slightly

GasBuddy Blog -- It's here- the national average stopped rising, at least for a few days. Dropping slightly since last night- one hundredth of a penny, we could see the pattern continue as some (not all) refining woes and pipeline issues have been figured out, and demand is set to fall in the weeks ahead.

We mentioned it Friday- that the national average would likely begin to fall in the upcoming weeks, and we do largely expect that to occur, but until mid-September, we may see prices largely stabilize or drop slightly.

" Dropping slightly since last night- one hundredth of a penny, we could see the pattern continue ..."Really??? A change as small as that implies a pattern could "continue"?

Nearly $80 for a full tank of 60 liters. Getting used to it, I guess.

Don't fear, here in Ohio, when the price drops a dime, you can place a wager that within the next day or 2 the price will jump 20 to 25 cents.

Prices are to damned high everywhere. I just got back from a Trip to San Antonio and it was high every place along the way. Gas Buddy was able to save me a few cents a gallon here and there by checking neighborhood prices.

Not here in SW Florida. Over the past couple of weeks, prices had slowly dropped a few pennies, typically 1 or 2 cents at a time. They jumped 10 to 14 cents overnight. I do NOT understand why, when prices are dropping, it is a penny or 2 at a time; when they are rising, it jumps 10-15 cents at a pop. Go figure.
